Felipa Nettie Somoza, 79, a resident of Rodeo, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at UMC Banner Hospital in Tucson, AZ. She was born May 26, 1939 in Lordsburg, NM to Elias Perez Gomez and Ramona Meneses Gomez. Nettie was a lifelong resident of Rodeo, NM and very involved in the community, and the Catholic Mission that was built by her parents and family. She was always donating her time and cooking skills as well as her infamous Rum cakes, that were auctioned for scholarships and the 4th of July fundraiser. She loved to crochet, and her dogs meant a lot to her. Her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were her pride and joy. She always put her family first. She and Albert would’ve been married 60 years on November 15 of this year. She is survived by her husband, Albert Somoza of the family home; one son, Albert Somoza Jr. and wife Rosalia of Safford, AZ; four daughters, Patricia Gonzales and husband Alfonso of Arenas Valley; Mary Stoehner and husband Mike of Rodeo; Clarissa Somoza of Douglas, AZ; Christine Mora and husband Frank of Douglas, AZ; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Manuel “Junior” Gomez and wife Grace of Rodeo; Robert Gomez Sr. and wife Rosie of Deming; three sisters, Alice Somoza and husband Victor of Rodeo; Elizabeth Escobar and husband Ramon of Rodeo; Connie Gruber of Grants Pass, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Michael Stoehnr Jr., two sisters, Irene Barnes and Lenore Mora. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3 at 10am at San Felipe de Neri Church 71 2nd St. in Rodeo, NM 88056 officiated by Father Jude Okonkwo.
